Our Story

From the Plant Floor
to the Dealership Floor

Smith Food Machinery was built from the ground up by someone who truly knows the industry from the inside. Ed Smith spent years managing food processing plants before making the transition to selling used equipment in 1988 — bringing with him a rare, hands-on understanding of what operators actually need from their machinery.

Today, Smith Food Machinery, Inc. is entering an exciting new chapter. Together with his sons Grant and Travis, Ed has launched a dedicated venture into purchasing and distributing quality used food processing machinery and packaging equipment — combining decades of industry knowledge with a fresh, forward-thinking approach to equipment brokerage.

We work with everyone — dealers, brokers, engineers, consultants, and end users — to find the right equipment at the right price. We look forward to continuing to serve our long-term customers, and to welcoming new relationships as we expand our reach across the food processing industry worldwide.

What We Stand For

Our Values

Everything we do is guided by a commitment to honesty, expertise, and genuine service — for every customer, every transaction.

Honesty First

We give straight assessments — whether the deal makes sense or not. No inflated promises, no pressure tactics. Just transparent, fair dealings every time.

Deep Expertise

Our background in plant management means we understand equipment from the operator's perspective — not just the dealer's. That knowledge helps us match the right machine to the right buyer.

Long-Term Relationships

We work with everyone — dealers, brokers, engineers, consultants, and end users. Our goal isn't a one-off transaction; it's a long-term partnership built on trust and mutual respect.

Open Door Policy

Our team is always available to answer questions, walk you through current inventory, and help you find exactly what you need — just get in touch.
